American Airlines Begins Selling Adult Lap Tickets

Well, maybe American Airlines is not considering tickets to ride in other adults laps, but they might as well be.  If you have flown recently, you are aware that the economy class does not have 2 inches of spare room to remove.  I see many, not just a few, inconvenienced tall people on every flight and I feel sorry for them.  I cannot imagine having 2 inches less, which sounds like a small number, but when you already have zero space, that is a lot.

Airlines have enjoyed strong profits and low fuel fuel prices after a decade of consolidation. They’re adding seats now to help offset rising employee wages.

I understand the need to weigh expenditures with revenue.  I think the airlines need to find other ways to cut than to cut their passengers’ comfort.  The problem is that the airlines all move together in order to protect themselves.  If one airline did this, it would push business to the others.  However, when all the airlines shift to ridiculous policies, it gives consumers nowhere to go and the airlines win.
