For all those who have been anxiously awaiting…the Fitbit App Gallery is now LIVE! To access the gallery, you must update your tracker to the latest version of the Fitbit OS using your mobile device. I updated with my iPhone this morning over WiFi and I now have access to new watch faces and apps. Many were wondering what the look and feel of the interface would be like once opened to the public, so I have included some screenshots from my mobile device.
I love the look and feel of the new app gallery and I am glad that Fitbit actually delivered on their promise to have this out before the holidays. I think it will help increase sales now that potential buyers can see more functionality from the watch. This now moves the Fitbit into the smartwatch category from where it existed prior, as a fitness tracker. The developer community has been very active over the last few months creating new clocks and apps and I think we will continue to see more and more additions to the gallery in coming weeks.
